We are currently seeking an Online Organizing Manager for our Our Wild Campaign to manage online organizing efforts for assigned campaigns and programs. The Online Organizing Manager will participates in the development and implementation of digital projects and resources to support campaigns/programs. This position is salaried at $70,000 - $75,000.

Scope: As the Online Organizing Manager of the Our Wild Campaign, you will work with campaign staff to employ Sierra Club's digital tools (data, web, email, social media, mobile, etc.) to engage Sierra Club supporters online to drive the strategy and advance the goals of the campaign. You have an aptitude for technology, and will use that to manage and track online organizing activity executed as part of campaigns and programs.  You'll also support national online organizing projects as needed.

Job Activities. In this role you will typically:

  1. Manage online organizing staff responsible for national and local online engagement for assigned campaigns and programs. This includes conducting formal performance evaluations, taking appropriate disciplinary action when needed, and making recommendations in hiring, termination, and salary decisions.

  2. Review the work of junior and senior strategists, including providing training and ongoing performance feedback with an emphasis on mentorship to help individuals' growth in the organization.

  3. Work with online organizers and other staff to devise and recommend online engagement plans for specific regions and on specific national efforts in conjunction with campaigns or programs.

  4. Participate in management of national and local online projects as needed to spur large scale growth and engagement of on1ine activists with particular emphasis on federal policy outcomes. This includes budget management, assistance in vendor identification and management, project execution, testing, launch and post-campaign measurement and evaluation.

  5. Organize, develop, and coordinate online email outreach, web-based advocacy, and online-to-offline integration of the members and supporters who are interested in assigned campaigns and programs.

  6. Recommend and implement rapid- response plans for national campaigns as needed.

  7. Travel to organize and coordinate training events, strategy sessions, field meetings, visibility or other large events and conferences as needed.

  8. Participate in developing a national and state -based strategy for assigned campaigns and programs; supporting social networking, web-presence, and state-based websites.

  9. Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

 

Seasonal Activities: Heavier seasonal workloads may occur as a result of project deadlines, staff absences and vacancies, and during peak activity periods. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.

 

Knowledge & Skills. You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • 1-3 years of management experience, with an emphasis on team management skills, which includes at least I year of experience developing and implementing coordinated communications and organizing strategies.

  • 3-5 years of experience in online organizing or campaigning with a strong 

  • background in advocacy, digital project management, and grassroots organizing.

  • A passion for racial, environmental, and social justice, including the ability to speak to and understand issues surrounding racial equity and inclusion, and environmental justice.

  • Proficient computer skills and prior experience or aptitude with internet applications including email, constituent relationship management or other related data systems, social networking systems, and web applications.

  • Previous experience developing and managing online creative campaigns, preferably including the management of design and web development vendors and large scale email acquisition campaigns.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated skills in writing and production of online campaign materials. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to enhance a culture of collaboration, openness, trust, equity, and inclusion all while supporting the Our Wild Campaign. 

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an action-oriented office.

  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and effectively with the public, staff, and volunteer, but also collaborate when necessary with other departments

 
Other skills that may be helpful for this role but are not required include:
 
  • Digital campaigning experience.

  • Fluency in Spanish.

  • A willingness to have open space at the table for decision making, including but not limited to experience establishing and building community relationships.

  • Experience with storytelling in terms of advocacy work or campaign work.

This position is salaried at $70,000 - $75,000
