The Virginia Democratic Party is looking to hire a Deputy Communications Director to help the state Party hold Republicans accountable through the 2021 cycle. The position will focus on Virginia's competitive gubernatorial race, and making sure the public knows the records of Republicans running. 

 

The position will report to the DPVA's Executive Director. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as spokesperson on behalf of the Virginia Democratic party
  • Planning and executing an earned media campaigns throughout the 2021 election cycle
  • Leading rapid response as opportunities arise
  • Working with digital and research departments to ensure integrated messaging
  • Other duties as specified by the executive director

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-3 years working in political communications, preferably at least one cycle on a statewide campaign.
  • On-the-record experience
  • Proven ability to execute creative earned media campaigns
  • Previous record of working and communicating with multiple stakeholders 
  • A willingness to work in a high-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours.

 

Salary/Benefits:

  • Salary is 55-70k and commensurate with experience 
  • Work hours will fluctuate between 40-70 hrs/week depending on need
  • PTO available as approved by supervisor, no accruals / balances.  
  • Insurance: 100% employer contributions; 401(k) available after one year of work
