Virginia House Majority Leader Charniele Herring (VA-46) is seeking a Finance Director.
OVERVIEW OF JOB
This full-time position will play a critical role in the fundraising and overall political operations by working closely with the Leader and her senior leadership team. This position is primarily a fundraising position; however, the successful candidate will also operate within the scope of the larger team with opportunities to staff the Leader and support communications, policy, and political operations.
This is a campaign-style position with evening and weekend hours being expected as needed. The position is based in Northern Virginia and in-state and some out of state travel will be required. (Current flexibilities exist on location and travel due to Covid-19.)
The position is ideally a full-time permanent position; but for the right candidate can be cycle-only.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and execute the Leader's finance plan in consultation with senior staff.
· Consistently achieve and exceed fundraising goals.
· Staff fundraising events with the Leader and prepare necessary materials.
· Work with event hosts to create, promote and manage the development of fundraising events.
· Assist in recruiting, building, and maintaining important donor relationships.
· Maintain fundraising and compliance database ensuring accuracy with all reporting requirements and guidelines, update donor history, and track contributions.
· Manage call time program; including preparing for and tracking calls by the Leader as well as making calls yourself.
· Draft and distribute fundraising materials.
· Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
· Candidates must have at least one cycle of finance/fundraising experience, and other campaign experience is a plus.
· Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, ActBlue and NGP.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to build relationships.
· Must be a self-starter; willing to sometimes work long, irregular hours and to travel as needed.
· Superior project management skills—multitasking is essential—with a demonstrated-outcomes orientation and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
COMPENSATION
Salary range for this position is between $45,000 and $55,000 annually depending on experience. A stipend towards marketplace health insurance and a partial cell phone reimbursement are provided.
