Job Overview: The Communications and Media Manager is responsible for assisting the campaign manager in developing an internal and external communication strategy and driving consistent messaging across all mediums and platforms. The Communications and Media Manager plans, drafts, designs and maintains social media posts, website updates, and printed communication materials including talking points, press releases, campaign materials, and reports. This position will also assist the campaign manager with assigned duties including scheduling and other operational tasks. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing multiple digital campaigns across multiple platforms to communicate our message, persuade and mobilize voters, and tell stories with impact.

  • Growing social media following and engagement organically.

  • Monitoring local and national press for relevant stories to compile news clips for the campaign team and find content to engage with. 

  • Develop and maintain media lists.

  • Write media advisories, talking points, op-eds, quotes, and press statements for special projects.

  • Develop and execute a strategic communications and digital plan.

  • Manage and maintain candidate calendar.

  • Other assigned tasks. 

Qualifications

  • 2+ cycles experience in campaigns, communications and digital experience preferred.

  • Strict attention to detail.

  • Strong communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.

  • Good marketing sense – developing messages, slogans and tactics that create buzz and draw attention. 

  • Experience managing social media and online tools

  • Familiarity with VAN and NGP, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.

  • Willingness to work long hours, including weekends. 

  • Ability to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of a competitive campaign. 

  • Willingness to relocate and access to a working laptop. 

Salary: $55,000-$70,000 depending on experience

Compensation determined based on experience. Interviews will be done on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Campaign is an equal opportunity employer.
