Doug for Council  - Field Director Position: Doug Schneider is running for City Council For the 39th Council District. The Doug for Council campaign is looking for a full-time Field Director with electoral or issue-based organizing experience to build and manage a grassroots field program in this competitive race. The position will start as soon as possible and run through the end of the June 22, 2021 Democratic Primary in New York City. Compensation will be $3500-$4000 per month commensurate with experience.

About Doug Schneider: Doug Schneider is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney, a community leader, and a public school parent. As a lawyer and as the Democratic District Leader for the 44th Assembly District, he works every day to make our community more just, our streets safer, our schools better, and our dad jokes funnier. Doug is a fighter, not a talker. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Manage a robust grassroots field program, including overseeing day-to-day field operations such as virtual meet and greets, phone banks and community events

  • Recruit and manage a team of field organizers and volunteers 

  • Utilize VAN to cut complex field universes and turf

  • Track and report progress toward volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals on a daily basis 

  • Manage voter contact tools, including relational organizing tools

Requirements:

  • 2 campaign cycles or other equivalent community organizing experience.
  • Staff, intern or volunteer management experience. 
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Strong follow-up skills, including excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to train volunteers to use voter contact systems such as Votebuilder, Thrutalk, Reach, and more.

The ideal candidate will have these qualities:

  • fluency in Bangla or Urdu; translation skills a plus. 

  • experience in Brooklyn. 

  • Strong ability to take feedback and adapt. 

  • Commitment to progressive values. 

  • Self-starter with great time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally and empathetically, in writing and verbally.

  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a history of working with a generous and collaborative approach.
