About the candidate: Badrun Khan is a liberal Muslim Democrat who has been very involved in the Bengali-American community in Queens and is a member of her local Community Board. She is running an issues based campaign with progressive values and is a strong proponent of direct economic relief and a Universal Basic Income.
About the Role: This position is a key leadership position in a complex campaign environment. The Field Director reports to the Campaign Manager and will be responsible for ballot petitioning, voter identification and outreach, volunteer recruitment, and GOTV events. This position is offered on an independent contractor basis at $3000-$3500 per month, commensurate with experience. Due to the nature of this position, work will be partially remote, and partially in-person. Applicants should be located in or around New York City (or be willing to move) and be able to travel to the district as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Create, implement and execute a comprehensive field plan.
- Identify, recruit and train field volunteers and interns.
- Set expectations for, and report on, targets for volunteer recruitment and voter contacts.
- Establish safe voter and volunteer contact procedures given the nature of the current pandemic.
- Consistently collect, report, enter and analyze data collected by the entire field program.
- Manage the petitioning process for the campaign, and be responsible for daily updates on signatures and canvass goals.
Required Experience:
- At least one cycle as a Field Director, or two cycles as a Field Organizer. (Alternate political and issue based campaign work will be considered.)
- Proficiency with Votebuilder and Google Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the district.
- Able to work long hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Hold a passion for progressive politics.
Preferred Experience:
- Campaign experience in New York City, especially Western Queens.
- Experience using Reach, ThruText, Action Network, and Todoist. Please highlight any other campaign tools you have experience with.
- Language proficiency in Bengali, Spanish or Arabic. Please be sure to mention any other languages you are proficient with.
