A new progressive media venture is looking for a Media Producer/editor to join our growing team. The Media Producer will work closely with other members of the video/creative team as well as policy, political and communications team members to conceptualize, script, produce and edit news-driven videos - with a mission to change policy in our country - ranging from breaking news, opinion pieces, policy explainers, exclusive interviews and short field documentaries.
The Media Producer must be immersed in and excited about the process of telling stories through understanding of video editing techniques, and comes in with a working knowledge of how to create unique narrative stories that hook viewers and keep people watching to the end.
The Media Producer role requires a high-level of self-sufficiency, strong collaboration and communication skills and a desire to help develop a clear brand and style from scratch. The Media Producer will also provide support as a Motion Graphics editor, as such this role requires an aptitude for video production in addition to a robust motion graphics skillset.
Core Responsibilities:
Conceptualize, shoot, and/or edit 3-5 videos a week ranging from studio productions, text driven narratives to field documentaries
Participate in meetings and collaborate with other video team members, policy and political teams to draft scripts, interview subjects to produce videos and push creative boundaries.
Knowledge of current social platforms and the best practices surrounding these platforms
Proactively identify edit inefficiencies and challenges and work collaboratively with other team members to put forth and implement solutions
Communicate and collaborate with coworkers to align on appropriate internal expectations based on the scope of each project and episode, as well as addressing any creative and QC revisions
Capturing, sourcing, and animating additional images, video, and assets as needed
Selecting appropriate music & sound effects and reporting appropriate music usage
Archiving and organizing projects to streamline productions
Meeting video teams' publishing schedules
Performing other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
2-3 years professional experience
A passion for video production and economic, social and racial justice.
Proficient in Adobe Premiere. (After Effects experience desired but not required.)
A solid track record of writing and editing high-quality digital video content
An excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills
A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized, capable of meeting tight deadlines
