Sandy for Council - Field Director Position: The Sandy for Council campaign is looking for a full-time Field Director to build a field operation for this competitive and progressive race in Brooklyn, New York. The Field Director will be responsible for designing and executing a voter contact strategy to elect Sandy. The position reports to the Campaign Manager. This position is full-time with a salary of $4,000 a month, relocating to New York City required.

About Sandy Nurse: Sandy Nurse is a community organizer running for New York City Council in District 37. Sandy is an Afro-Latina, born in Panama to an immigrant father and raised by a single mother. Sandy is the founder of BK ROT, a co-founder of the Mayday Space, a direct action organizer, and a carpenter. She has spent nearly a decade working to create the alternative institutions we need for positive social change while confronting power.
Field Director Responsibilities
Design and execute a creative field plan that engages nearly every voter in District 37 - this will encapsulate digital strategy
Track and evaluate weekly voter contact efforts and report performance compared to benchmarks
Recruit and train volunteers to reach voter contact goals
Hit call goal within our goal set
Interface and collaborate with local, state, and national political organizations
Plan and implement organizing events
Work alongside the Campaign Manager to organize creatively to achieve fundraising metrics
Facilitate trainings and manage a team of field staff
Manage a field texting program
Complete direct voter contact shifts
Design and execute a GOTV plan, including for absentee voting and ranked choice voting
The ideal candidate will have these qualities:
Bilingual with Spanish fluency; translation skills a plus
Understand the intersection of digital and field work
Strong ability to take feedback and adapt
Commitment to progressive values
Critical thinking skills
Self-starter with great time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
Experience in setting and achieving strategic and measurable targets
Creativity and vision to build new programs from scratch
Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially listening skills and ability to communicate professionally and empathetically, in writing and verbally
Experience with Votebuilder, Mobilize, ThruText, Google Suite
Knowledge and experience in NYC Politics helpful, but not required
Field Director Qualifications
New York and/or Brooklyn experience is preferred, but not required
This position is ideal for a candidate with at least 2 cycles of experience on an electoral campaign
Experience using voter contact systems, such as a mobilize, OpenVPB and a texting program
