About the Environmental Polling Consortium
The Environmental Polling Consortium (EPC) is a cooperative forum for environmental organizations engaged in polling programs and a resource for organizations seeking attitudinal data on environmental issues to guide their programs. Bringing together top environmental non-profits as well as top advocates and researchers across the US, the consortium is focused on fulfilling the needs of the environmental community for aggregated survey data and analysis and coordinating the environmental polling efforts. The resulting democratization of survey data aims to provide environmental advocates the intelligence they need to keep the pulse on the latest trends and run more effective campaigns.
The Role
This lead role of the Environmental Polling Consortium (EPC) will manage the coalition and serve in a hands-on capacity. The EPC is seeking a self-starter that will lead team goals and identify opportunities for the EPC's evolution while contributing expertise to survey research analysis and collaboration.
As the head of the EPC, you will be responsible for guiding the vision, managing relationships with member organizations, managing the team, and managing budget. Specific day-to-day duties include:
● Coordinating EPC steering committee members
● Managing membership across research entities, academic institutions, and non-profit environmental organizations
● Evolving external brand and touchpoints, including driving a plan to promote the EPC and recruit new members
● Chairing collaboration and coordination across membership
● Overseeing processes taking an end-user approach to the design of stakeholder touchpoints: survey library, inbound communications, and the distribution of outbound deliverables
● Managing and mentoring the team, working with individuals to craft goals, providing regular feedback and guidance as issues arise, addressing training and onboarding needs, and conducting annual performance reviews
● Fostering a team culture grounded in collaboration and enthusiasm
● Overseeing the addition of 3rd party tools or contract capacities as needed
● Managing the budget, including proposal writing for EPC funding
● Presenting status reports to the sponsoring entity of the EPC: The Partnership Project
● Pursuing opportunities to work across coalitions at The Partnership Project
As an individual contributor, you will work collaboratively and alongside the rest of the EPC staff producing analysis, contributing to best practices, and servicing inquiries from membership. The EPC team will be a sum of parts, collectively possessing the skills to execute the following tasks day-to-day, including:
● Leading several (but not necessarily all) of the following capacities in conducting analysis:
○ Conceptualizing value-add analyses and framing research deliverables
○ Data manipulation & analysis
○ Insights writing
○ Authoring presentation decks and memos
○ Deriving strategic implications for the environmental community
○ Advising how survey data can be actioned in communication programs
○ Developing and delivering effective and persuasive presentations with a storyteller approach
○ Opportunistically commission/manage additional primary research to expand on survey findings or trends; engage in experimental design, translating research questions into proposed studies utilizing additional research methods such as focus groups, social listening, etc.
● Field inbound requests for:
○ Survey data
○ Insights derived from surveys in the EPC library
○ Survey best practices
● Sourcing survey data and analysis from across the community and public sources for the EPC library
○ Maintaining the tagging scheme for searchability based on evolving needs of the staff and community
○ Tagging content added to the library
○ Establishing a roster of public polling sources relevant to the community
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more the following:
● Environmental mission
● Survey design
● Survey analysis
● Experimental design
● Additional qualitative research methods extending beyond surveys: focus groups, in depth interviews, social listening, etc.
Salary & Application Process
Estimated salary range $90,000 to $140,000.
