About the Finance Team's Bookkeeper
CLASI is looking for a qualified bookkeeper with accounting experience to support our finance department's day-to-day operations. The bookkeeper will play a key role in tracking, processing and recording financial transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and providing administrative services to support financial operations for our wide portfolio of clients across the country. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Document financial transaction details
- Enter financial transactions in general ledger databases
- Maintain Accounts Payable financial procedures for purchasing and billing
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing issues
- Assist with cash disbursement and deposit procedures
- Serve as a liaison between the finance department and organizational staff to communicate procedures, address questions and resolve issues.
- Check accounting for accuracy and ensure compliance with internal controls and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide direct administrative assistance to the finance department as needed including creating financial reports
- Maintain organized financial records and filing systems
- Work with team to complete month–end closing cycles on schedule
- Be proactive in recommending improvements to processes and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in bookkeeping, office administration or other related fields
- Experience with Accounts Payables and double-entry bookkeeping strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience working within non-profit framework a plus;
- Proficiency with billing and accounting software; knowledge of Fund E-Z accounting software a plus.
- Highly proficient in Excel and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent administrative, time-management and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail -- able to produce high data quality and consistency in a fast-paced environment.

Anything Else You Should Know?
The position is full-time and based in New York City. During the current health crisis, all work will be remote. When safe to travel, flexibility with working remotely part-time will be allowed, but travel to our New York City office at least once a week will be required.
The base salary range for this position is $57,500 to $67,500 and will be adjusted based on an internal equitable scale that takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and final job description. We also offer excellent benefits, including unlimited vacation days.
