Job Summary

For Our Future Wisconsin seeks a Deputy Field Director to execute the statewide field plan, chiefly by supervising the day-to-day operations of the voter contact team and program, and supervising the Regional Field Directors and their teams. This includes taking an active role in growing the pipeline of new applicants and ensuring a smooth hiring and onboarding process occurs. The Deputy Field Director reports directly to the Field Director. Candidates should have familiarity with Wisconsin, experience working on field campaigns, experience managing staff, comfort working long hours, basic digital skills, and access to a car and a working laptop.

This is a full-time position through April, 9 2021.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

●       Assist with management of a statewide team of Regional Directors, Phone Bank Managers, Canvass Managers, and Canvassers/Phonebankers.

●       Take an active lead in maintaining the job applicant pipeline and help manage the onboarding and training process for new hires

●       Set daily priorities and assign goals, metrics, and tasks.

●       Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met and exceeded.

●       Ensure that accurate and timely reports are submitted for each region.

●       Monitor metrics within each assigned region, including knocks/calls per shifts, flake rate, completion rate, and confirmation rate.

●       Implement rigorous systems to meet assigned goals associated with field metrics.

●       Champion relationship-based and paid canvass approaches to organizing.

●       Coach field staff through the challenges of implementing a voter contact program, and other programmatic priorities.

●       Work with organizational leadership to recruit, hire, and onboard new staff.

●       Assist with training and staff development.

●       Perform other field-related duties, as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

●       At least three cycles of competitive field experience

●       Canvass management experience required

●       Strong knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN

●       Knowledge of EveryAction is a plus

●       Basic computer literacy and database skills, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel

●       Some familiarity with relationship-based organizing, leadership development, and team building

●       Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast paced, metrics-driven work environment

●       Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects

●       Strong coaching skills and abilities

●       Strong problem solving with action-oriented decision-making skills

●       Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully relate to voters and volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds

●       Commitment to the mission, advancing progressive power, and a winning mentality

●       Access to reliable transportation

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

●      This position will supervise members of the field staff.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

■       Door-to-door canvassing, in-person management, and training is considered an essential function of this job. As long as it is possible to safely and appropriately conduct door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority. Employees will be provided with health and safety training, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly face-to-face with voters, volunteers or community partners. Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors may sometimes limit For Our Future's canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office.

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

■       Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday thru Friday, however employees will be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and nights.

■       Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
