Cesar Zuniga for City Council is seeking field organizers for the upcoming June primary. This is a competitive race in Brooklyn District 38 that focuses on addressing the affordable housing crisis and bringing the community together. His service on the community board as both a member and Chair over the last decade has shown his commitment to the district, the people it represents and to ensure that developers have to face the community, not just corporate backrooms.
The organizers should be passionate about empowering local communities through political engagement with the desire to build meaningful and lasting relationships with volunteers and community leaders within the district.
Responsibilities Include
Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers and interns
Engage in Direct Voter Contact, including phonebanking and canvassing
Build relational networks through 1:1s, virtual house parties, calls and texts
Engage in and train for persuasion conversations specifically tailored to a Ranked Choice Voting election
Plan, manage and host creative community engagement events throughout the district
Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with potential voters about relevant issues to the campaign and district
Ability to be creative in how they work towards and meet voter contact goals
Able to thrive in a fast paced work environment
One cycle as a Field Organizer or campaign intern is preferred but not required
Knowledge of VAN preferred but not required
Some experience using digital organizing tools is preferred but not required
Ties to New York, and specifically Brooklyn are a plus
Comfortable with working in-person, all work must be conducted in accordance with campaign's COVID protocols. Job will require relocation to NYC
