Eliza for Manhattan DA: Eliza Orlins for Manhattan District Attorney is seeking highly motivated, progressive applicants to help execute a successful Field program in New York City. Eliza is the only public defender in the race and has spent her career representing over 3,000 New Yorkers who otherwise would not have been able to afford a lawyer. Eliza is committed to a decarceral platform to transform criminal justice in NYC and bring real change to the city's most vulnerable.
Description: The Field Organizer position will report directly to the Field Director and will be responsible for building and maintaining an active community of volunteers, running successful voter contact events, engaging with local community leaders and activists, and more. Ideal candidates will be hard-working, passionate, and able to meet or exceed voter contact goals throughout the campaign.
Responsibilities Include:
Recruit a network of energized volunteers by developing relationships with community leaders, activists, and constituency groups
Train and empower volunteer leaders, manage teams of volunteers, and delegate responsibilities effectively
Plan and run successful voter contact events, including but not limited to phonebanks, textbanks, in-person petition signature canvasses, and constituency-specific events
Manage volunteer and recruitment data through VAN and Google Sheets, remaining highly organized in all data entry to track against consistent voter contact goals
Qualifications Include:
Excellent interpersonal skills; successful at working collaboratively, motivating volunteer teams, and mobilizing progressive energy into concrete action
Highly organized; able to effectively prioritize and manage changing responsibilities while meeting consistent deadlines and goals
Highly creative; able to learn quickly and willing to propose solutions to improve our program in real-time
Ability to thrive in fast-paced work environments with non-traditional work hours
Experience on previous political campaigns or organizing work—either in volunteer leadership or full-time roles—is a plus
Lived experience in NYC (preferably Manhattan), is a plus
Ability to relocate and/or commute to Manhattan if needed
Multilingual proficiency is a plus
