The Voting Rights Lab seeks two Program Directors to work with the Senior Director of National Programs, along with other members of the team, to create, build, and drive dynamic advocacy programs that will make voting more accessible for historically disenfranchised communities. This includes creating dynamic advocacy campaigns, driving political engagement strategies, and building and strengthening coalition relationships.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Design long-term strategic plans for VRL's campaigns that ensure that legislative successes translate into real world change. This will include co-creation of plans with partners and ensuring that our programmatic goals are aligned with VRL's theory of change.
- Manage cross-functional organizational projects that are highly matrixed & collaborative
- Maintain political and cultural contexts around voting rights, voting access and voter suppression and use that context to make strategic recommendations on new programmatic endeavors, long term positions, prioritization, and positioning for the organization
- Demonstrate fluency in a broad range of voting policies in order to engage substantively on strategy across departments; maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the legislative agendas and overall political environments in all VRL states and nationally
- Represent the Voting Rights Lab with external partners and coalitions and develop long-term relationships with key stakeholders in the voting rights landscape; identify critical gaps and needs where VRL can meaningfully contribute to the movement
- Work collaboratively across the Voting Rights Lab departments to develop and innovate strategies to promote pro-voter policies and fight voter suppression
- Oversee the development of long-term engagement strategies and programs for key constituencies, including, but not limited to election administrators, veterans, and returning citizens.
- Work on special projects related to the advancement of VRL's strategic imperatives
- Produce written materials such as advocacy letters, talking points, campaign plans, background memos, toolkits, etc.
- Organize campaign briefings and reports for internal and external parties
- At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in issue advocacy campaigns, research, organizing, and/or political campaigns
- Entrepreneurial, creative, and strategic thinker
- An ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail oriented
- Strong experience developing and managing strategic campaign plans, that incorporate powerbuilding and ongoing relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders and coalition partners
- Knowledge and understanding of the tactics and strategies often employed on successful issue advocacy campaigns, and the ability to deploy them creatively
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- A flexible team player that works well collaboratively across teams
- Strong orientation toward racial equity and social justice and committed to acting on the belief that they are critical components of our work
- Experience working on voting rights issues a plus but not required
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for Program Directors will be $99,000 - $132,000.
