ABOUT HOPE IN A BOX
Hope in a Box is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps rural educators use literature to ensure every LGBTQ+ student feels safe, welcome, and included at school. We provide educators with curated books with LGBTQ+ characters, distinctive curriculum for these books, and ongoing training and mentorship on how to build an inclusive classroom. Our program was developed with help from 50+ teachers and professors and has been featured by Education Week, Forbes, USA Today, The Advocate, National Geographic, and the United Nations. We believe that, through literature, educators can fight stereotypes, cultivate empathy, and save lives.
Since January 2019, Hope in a Box has quickly grown from a small pilot into a national program that supports hundreds of schools in all 50 states. Ultimately, our goal is to make LGBTQ-inclusive education the norm, not the exception, in every public school. Learn more at www.hopeinabox.org.
