Marketing Coordinator 

Throughout the past 30 years, life has improved for people with Down syndrome. Many enjoy an increased lifespan, benefit from early intervention therapies and inclusion in school and community, and daily realize new opportunities of independence.  The last 10 years have seen a significant increase in momentum in Down syndrome research. But many of the community's medical and therapeutic needs continue to go unmet.

LuMind IDSC envisions a world where every person with Down syndrome thrives with improved health, independence, and opportunities to reach their fullest potential. LuMind IDSC's small, dynamic team is working across the U.S. to drive further improvements in the lives of people with Down syndrome through accelerated research and the empowerment of individuals and their families.

LuMind IDSC seeks a Marketing Coordinator to support the daily communications, digital, and marketing needs of a thriving, engaged community. This position reports to the Director of Marketing, Kate O'Neill and will be locally remote-based. This role will play a creative and strategic support role in expanding and operationalizing LuMind IDSC's daily digital marketing activities, with the goals of implementing new processes for our web site and email communications and positioning digital marketing content to align more fully with our robust social media operations.  The Marketing Coordinator will contribute to and carry out marketing and communications projects from planning through to completion and evaluation.

The Marketing Coordinator will interact with a wide range of projects and responsibilities. This role will draft, design, and produce marketing content for multiple platforms, and oversee distribution across communication channels.  Working strategically with the Director of Marketing to identify opportunities for effective outreach, the Marketing Coordinator will also work across departments to improve systems, and generally enhance the organization's brand reach and recognition.

LuMind IDSC is a small organization with a big mandate. Our staff work collectively to achieve goals, support each other, and move the organization forward. The Marketing Coordinator must have the confidence necessary for self-direction, and a knack for working collaboratively on team projects and initiatives.

Experience required:

  • 3 years of general marketing/communications work in a mission-driven, non-profit, academic, advocacy, or research-related setting. (Internship and college experience counts towards the 3 years of experience.)
  • A solid knowledge of both the technical and theoretical sides of digital marketing: Web site maintenance, optimizing pages for SEO, UX, and analytics-driven content development.
  • Thorough understanding of social media and e-mail marketing principles.
  • Skilled at shepherding projects through marketing operations and systems, as well as the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy environment.
  • Ability to organize and streamline complex messaging into user-friendly concepts.
  • Digital and/or traditional graphic design experience and latest knowledge of best practices.
  • Interest in and commitment to advancing the LuMind IDSC mission.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative software: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

Experience preferred:

  • Knowledge of iModules web and email platform
  • Recruitment or inbound marketing experience, preferably in a non-profit, academic, or research-based environment
  • Knowledge of professional persuasive writing techniques
  • Professional project management experience

Pluses:

  • Advanced knowledge of iModules web and email platform
  • Background in Down syndrome advocacy, Down syndrome community services, or similar
  • Experience in clinical trial recruitment, patient advocacy, or research communications
  • Knowledge of professional persuasive writing techniques
  • Experience producing and editing video projects
  • Professional project management training or certification

LOCATION

This position reports to the Director of Marketing, Kate O'Neill, and will be remote-based for the time being. The ideal candidate is based in New England and is a short drive from Burlington, MA.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

LuMind IDSC offers a robust compensation and benefit package. The target salary for the role is $45,000. Benefits include health care, employer contribution to your 401(k) plan, and Long-term Disability and Whole Life.
