NVF Project Name: The League
Position: Political Director
Reports to: Founder
Location: Remote, with a preference for DC or NYC
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Position Summary
The League is a social impact collective with one goal: inspire people to live a civic life. We work to do what politics alone can't: change hearts and minds by changing culture. Our work is in service to people of color, women, young people, LGBTQ+ communities and more--the diverse coalition that is leading America into the future, both politically and culturally. We work with activists, progressive movement and social justice organizations, celebrities, corporations, filmmakers, philanthropists and thought leaders to design and execute creative campaigns and strategies that reach our audiences where they are.
We are seeking an experienced Political Director to join our high-impact, low-ego team. This person will play a key role on all campaigns and projects, bringing sharp political analysis to shape our goals and strategies. The right fit is someone who wants to put their experience and relationships in the progressive movement to work to advance racial and gender justice and to drive increased civic engagement among the New American Majority. The Political Director will represent The League in political, social justice, and progressive movement spaces, both nationally and in states. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with leadership development or political training organizations that focus on Black, Indigenous and women of color (BIWOC).
We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating a just, equitable America, and who believes that using culture is a powerful way to connect with people and move them to action. We are a growing organization with bold, ambitious goals, and the right fit will be someone who has an appetite for working with a creative, nimble team that loves to try new things.
The League is a remote team. The Political Director will report to the Founder.
We have always been a remote work team, but with COVID-19, like many others, we are adapting in real-time to the reality of our team's work/life situations. This requires a whole new level of flexibility and understanding, and we are committed to ensuring our team has the support and grace needed to navigate this unprecedented time we find ourselves in.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
Oversee a new initiative focused on increasing the political power of BIWOC. This will include convening of a cohort of organizations focused on the political power of BIWOC, building strong relationships, managing a shared planning process, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and cost savings.

Design data-driven civic engagement campaigns that leverage cultural organizing strategies and oversee their evaluation.
Oversee the execution of campaigns and strategies in key states, working closely with state-based partners.
Identify and assess opportunities for rapid response campaigns, with a particular focus on gender justice issues.
Manage The League's relationships with social justice organizations, progressive movement partners and more, and identify opportunities for strategic collaboration
Lead the work to identify and reach out to national and state-based partners to engage them in specific projects or campaigns.
Develop The League's strategy for bringing our culture-first, intersectional lens into social justice and progressive movement spaces.
Represent The League in political, social justice and progressive movement spaces--both nationally and in states--including tables, coalitions, and meetings with partners.
Stay abreast of developments and best practices in electoral and issue-based organizing and monitor demographic and political trends related to voting and civic participation.
