In observance of MLK Day | | Today, we as a nation reflect on the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In only 39 years of life, Dr. King left an incomparable impact on our country and our world as a whole. His message of equality and freedom is more relevant now than ever with voting rights at risk in the U.S. Senate.
Our democracy is in grave danger if we fail to act soon. In the words of Dr. King, "The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by human beings for breaking down injustice and destroying the terrible walls which imprison people because they are different from others." It is imperative that our elected officials in Congress pass the Freedom To Vote Act & John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect our right to vote. If you're looking for ways to join the fight for voting rights in your area, go to mlkdayactions.org. Let us all reflect on the life of Dr. King today and remember the power of our vote when we march on ballot boxes the way he envisioned. | | In solidarity, — GAIN Power | | |
