Senate Democratic Campaign Committee
Caucus Director
The
Senate Democratic Campaign Committee is hiring a Caucus Director. This
is a senior level position, reporting directly to Senate Democratic
leadership, and will oversee all aspects of the 2016 campaign. We are
looking for someone who knows Maine and has a deep understanding of the
unique characteristics of each senate district. Past campaign and
fundraising experiences are must-haves. But we are looking for more
than just technical competence. A strong candidate will have the soft
skills to complement his/her technical know-how, including a
collaborative approach to problem solving, a strategic mind, and the
ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders including
volunteers.
Caucus Director Job Responsibilities:
· Oversees all operations for 2016 Senate Democratic campaign
· Reports directly to Senate Democratic Leadership: Senators Alfond and Hill
· Prepares and executes campaign fundraising plan, in consultation with leadership team
· Manages
campaign staff, including hiring of paid campaign positions, and
oversight and training for both paid and volunteers staff
· Oversees candidate recruitment and serves as primary point of contact for all candidates
· Provides the highest-level of service for candidates including regular communications and trainings
· Designs and implements a world-class field campaign, including individualized field plans for each candidate
· Oversees the campaign budget and manages expenditures
· Ensures
100% compliance with all Maine election laws, including timely
campaign finance reporting (in conjunction with SDCC Treasurer)
· Provides regular updates to Senate Democratic Leadership Team
· Works collaboratively with consultants and vendors on strategy
· Builds and leverages key relationships with national allies
· Manages
internal communications for the campaign, including meetings,
conference calls, and general updates with Senators and staff involved
with campaign effort
· Oversees recount process if necessary
Required Skills and Experiences:
· 2+ years of experience working on campaigns
· Strong, working knowledge of Maine demographics and political landscape
· Strong leader who is able to inspire and motivate candidates and staff
· Experienced manager with the willingness and ability to empower staff to be leaders in their own right
· Collaborative approach to problem solving
· Strategic thinker
