Helping Link- Một Dấu Nối Part Time Computer Lab Coordinator Opening
Helping Link- Một Dấu Nối received a City of Seattle Technology Matching Fund Award for funding in November, 2014. This funding will enable the agency to update computer lab hardware, and to hire a part time computer lab coordinator. The goal of the computer lab is to increase technology literacy for the Vietnamese underserved population. The lab will provide opportunities for adults and parents to enhance their computer skills, work together with their schools/workplaces, and access resources to help their family members.
Helping Link- Một Dấu Nối is located at 1032 S. Jackson St. #C, Seattle, WA 98104. Helping Link - Một Dấu Nối is a non-profit, grass-root, community-based service agency that provides educational, social, and cultural programs to empower and support Vietnamese-American community in King County for over twenty one years.
Job Description:
Work closely with Helping Link - Một Dấu Nối's Executive Director and volunteers to manage, coordinate and implement the 2014 City of Seattle Technology Matching Fund Project. The Computer Lab Coordinator will manage, plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate the computer program.
Major Duties Include:
1. Coordinating the recruitment process for computer lab instructors and technical support volunteers with the volunteer coordinator. This includes helping create and coordinate the process for recruiting, screening, interviewing and selecting volunteers for these positions. The Coordinator will assist in developing the instructors' job description, provide training, supervise and evaluate their work.
2. Coordinating the computer class sessions with the instructors and clients. It includes coordination of the development of promotional materials, recruitment and registration of participants, gathering information from community, and creating class schedules and a class evaluation. It will also include providing reminders to participants about the classes they signed up for to ensure their attendance.
3. Be responsible for the preparation of reports and records in a timely manner for the project, including interim and final work progress reports, budget narratives, a project evaluation summary, and matching funds reports with the volunteers and ED.
4. The Computer Lab Coordinator will report to and be supervised by Helping Link - Một Dấu Nối's Executive Director. The Computer Lab Coordinator will be responsible to work with the volunteer in facilitating the monthly meetings, preparing written monthly reports on the activities, managing the lab schedule, and assisting in managing, training and supervising volunteers.
Requirements:
Ø Good oral and written English and Vietnamese communication skills.
Ø Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating a computer lab project that includes computer training sessions.
Ø Experience in recruiting and supervising computer lab volunteer instructors.
Ø Experience working with volunteers and a diverse population
Ø Experience facilitating meetings
Ø Basic Microsoft and Mac skills
Ø Experience in preparing reports and keeping records.
Ø Ability to teach and mentor project management skills
Ø Team player
Ø Ability to follow through and pay attention to details
Ø Experience in technical support skills –basic maintenance, installing equipment, troubleshooting
Ø Experience in purchasing computer equipment and supplies and installation.
Ø Experience working with a low income and diverse population
Ø Education or marketing experience helpful.
Hours: Part-time, 10-15 hrs/ week. Potential Full Time Position
Compensation: Negotiable within project budget, work plan, and project agreement with the City of Seattle. No benefits or transportation costs.
