Schedule: 8am-5pm Monday – Friday,
Events, some evenings & some weekends.
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

With a small team of staff at the South Dakota Democratic Party, we're looking for a self-motivated person who is passionate about the work we do to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. The Executive Director must be able to adapt to diverse situations and demands while keeping a positive attitude at all times.
The Executive Director must be personable and welcoming to elected officials, candidates, donors, partners, prospects, and the press. He/she must be able to develop electoral strategies, execute plans, communicate with the press, inspire staff, manage teams, and build diverse coalitions.
Can you fulfill the responsibilities of the job?
The Executive Director oversees the day to day operations of the South Dakota Democratic Party including the following:
  • Strategic planning: Develop a long term strategic plan that includes SMART fundraising, field, and future leadership goals in coordination with the Party Chair.
  • Master scheduling: Create & maintain a master calendar in coordination with staff that includes party events, volunteer activities, goals, and deadlines.
  • Fundraising: Daily call-time & ongoing one-on-ones with high dollar donors; write fundraising mail solicitations.
  • Candidate recruitment: Identify statewide candidates in coordination with statewide candidate recruitment committee. Oversee local candidate recruitment efforts.
  • Communications: Write press releases for the media, talking points for the Chair, elected officials, candidates, and activists, and interview with reporters.
  • Compliance: Approve Federal & State compliance reports in coordination with Finance Director.
  • Identify volunteer engagement opportunities with Field Director.
