Apply to join our team!  STEMconnector® is the "one-stop shop" for STEM education.  We are committed to connecting entities working in the field of STEM and we are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and intellectually curious Assistant Project Manager to join our team.

Description: The Assistant Project Manager will work predominantly on projects with the STEM Higher Education Council (SHEC), in addition to collaborating with Million Women Mentors® (MWM). Both initiatives are in expansion phases. Assistant Project Managers work closely with senior staff to ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on target. Assistant Project Managers work independently and also as part of a team to increase project efficiency, while providing project and business administration support. This role is responsible for interacting and establishing relationships with internal staff, industry leaders, and client-members to develop trusting, ongoing client-member relationships. In conjunction with Directors, Assistant Project Managers actively engage in business development through excellent execution and by identifying new opportunities to serve client members.

The STEM Higher Education Council's vision is to be the Higher Education Leadership Forum of choice to meet America's need for STEM talent through education, training, and partnerships with business and industry.  The Assistant Project Manager will support STEMconnector® strategic outreach to service existing and potential SHEC members.  The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in planning the annual SHEC National Leaders Summit and other SHEC-related meetings. Other tasks include researching programs of current and potential council members, writing blog posts, attending events of behalf of STEMconnector®, and as an integral part of the STEMconnector® team, contributing to our other initiatives such as Million Women Mentors.  

Million Women Mentors® is an engagement campaign and national call to action that mobilizes corporations, government entities, non-profit and higher education groups, around the imperative of mentoring girls and women in STEM fields. Million Women Mentors® supports the engagement of one million science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) mentors (male and female) to increase the interest and confidence of girls and young women to persist and succeed in STEM programs and careers.

Qualifications:
·    Minimum of two years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience equal to five years or more.
·    Understanding of business operations to make informed decisions.
·    Experience in development with track record of project performance.
·    Strong relationships in Education and Washington DC are a plus.
·    Demonstrated interest in workforce and education issues especially STEM education/STEM higher education.
·    Track record of achievement.
·    Strong technology skills beyond computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
·    Demonstrated research ability, plus excellent communications skills (verbal and written). 
·     Proven aptitude to keep team members motivated and on target.
·    Problem-solving ability and decision-making skills
·    Professional demeanor in all situations and the ability to manage and safeguard confidential information.
·    Self-motivated, organized, flexible, and able to balance multiple tasks at once.
·    BA/BS degree (in public policy, education, business, or STEM field) from an accredited college or university.
