Position Description
Operations/Data Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Seeking an Operations Director to assist in implementation and management of a targeted field outreach program to educate and build support for quality school choices for New Jersey families. The Operations and Data Director will work closely with the Outreach Director to onboard, manage, and support the outreach program staff. The Operations Director will be responsible for payroll, budget tracking, data analysis and reporting, and executing the daily operations tasks for a four person organization and its part-time staff. In addition, the Operations Manager will oversee the campaign's data and analytics program. The ideal candidate must demonstrate analytical, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and have prior experience managing or supporting data programs.

The desired candidate must be highly analytical and inquisitive with strong attention to detail. The candidate must be able to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and deadline driven environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Financial accounting/reporting for a 501c (3) and prior electoral and/or issue organizing experience a plus. The ideal candidate is a process-oriented individual who is also flexible enough to thrive in a startup setting.
This position will be based in Central New Jersey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Manage the operations and logistics of the organization
·         Onboard and train staff on operations and payment processes
·         Manage staff hours tracking and payments in an efficient manner
·         Track budget and spending: purchases, payments & staff compensation
·         Support the Outreach Manager in staff management and accountability
·         Compile weekly spending and data analysis reports
·         Manage all the data and reporting for campaign.
·         Support outreach staff in events set up and management
·         Accurately and efficiently process vendor bills and invoices
·         Increase efficiencies through process improvements and further assist with change management
·         Manage technology and resource check out and check in processes for contract staff
·         Perform day-to-day financial transactions including posting payments and preparing daily bank deposits
REQUIREMENTS: 
·         Previous experience with campaign operations and human resources
·         Experience with accounting and managing payroll
·         Experience managing and executing budgets
·         Experience with creating and managing accountability systems
·         Strong attention to details and accuracy
·         Tech savvy – Proficient in Excel use
·         Experience and familiarity with the following software/tools:
o   Quickbooks
o   Microsoft Office Suite
o   Google Business Apps
o   Dropbox
·         Strong understanding of finance and operations
·         Sense of humor and eagerness to contribute new ideas very important
·         Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure

Preferred (but not required) skills:
·         Experience with organizing campaigns and paid canvassing a plus
·         Experience with grassroots organizing and other aspects of electoral work preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in advocacy. You know how to power map a target, launch effective campaigns and win policy battles.
·         Bi-lingual in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)


Education/Experience:
Candidates must possess an associate degree and/or at least 1 year of prior experience working on operations/budget management. Experience with local government and basic knowledge New Jersey politics preferred.
