Job Posting: Chief of Staff: NYC Council Member

A progressive New York City Council Member is seeking a Chief of Staff to run the day-to-day operations of the office. The Chief of Staff will oversee all policy, communications, constituent services, scheduling, community issues, and office management. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and hire staff, and assign roles and responsibilities for the district and legislative offices

  • Oversee Council Member's legislative agenda, develop communications strategy, manage constituent work, and lead annual budget process

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, elected officials, city agencies, advocacy groups, and council staff

  • Engage constituents through events, stakeholder meetings, and community outreach

  • Draft and review all communications on behalf of the Council Member

  • Represent the Council Member at district wide meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Exceptional communications and writing skills

  • Highly organized and careful attention to detail

  • Previous experience as a manager a plus

  • An interest in local government, politics, and city issues

  • A sense of humor!
