Social Media Manager

EWG is seeking a seasoned professional to execute a social media strategy that builds communities on various social media platforms and increases EWG's online influence and engagement. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of EWG's social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and for creating compelling online content and graphics that drive growth.  This position reports to the Vice President for Communications, working closely and collaboratively with the development, information technology, website design and editorial departments. 
Responsibilities: 
  • Manage EWG's social media communities and content including daily posts, content calendars, engagement, metrics reports, and paid ads.
  • Draft, edit and post content across all social media channels, including the creation of multimedia content, such as graphics, and photo editing.
  • Carry out strategies and tactics for each platform to increase community engagement rates and drive traffic to the organization's website.
  • Monitor comments and ongoing conversations across EWG platforms and respond in a timely manner.
  • Review new social media tools, follow trends and impact, and recommend participation.
  • Establish targets to assess EWG's growth and influence, and generate regular reports for the management team and board of directors. 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, media, journalism or related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience, including at least three years of demonstrated ability of achieving results using social media platforms.
  • Top-notch writing skills and solid experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Tumblr.
  • Fluency with social media performance metrics and Facebook Insights and Ads Manager.
  • Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to understand how online communications can best drive the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, and track and understand the implications of the latest social media trends.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Passion and knowledge for environmental health related issues.
  • Experience creating social media content and graphics using Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred.
  • Photography and video production experience a plus.

Location: EWG Washington, D.C. Office
Salary: Commensurate with experience
