Job Description

The Outreach Coordinator (OC) has primary responsibility for all community outreach, education, and communications
programs. The OC reports to and aids the Assistant Executive Director (AED) with field, database maintenance,
communications and media relations to expand our base of grassroots, grass-tops and organizational supporters and
partners. The OC engages members, partners and community leaders to actively support our scope of work.

Primary Responsibilities

Outreach and Communications:
  • Coordinates with the AED to identify, build and maintain trusting relationships with strategic partners among organizations, opinion leaders, grass-leaders and activists at local, state and national levels whose support and engagement help to secure our goals.
  • Represents us at public events, conferences, workshops and media events.
  • Conducts public education including forums and oversees interns and volunteers.
  • Manages website content, Facebook, Twitter, other social media and email communications.
  • Assists the AED in cultivating media relationships with reporters and editorial writers.
  • Conducts research on electoral results, lawmaker voting history, tracks legislation.
  • Performs other duties requested by the AED.

Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Commitment to our mission and scope of work.
  • Knowledge of current political and policy events relevant to our mission and scope of work.
  • Demonstrated success as a team member and leader.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, social media and website management systems.

Skills and Abilities Desired
  • Preference to applicants who are fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work unsupervised; meet deadlines; be proactive with challenges and opportunities to further AZAN goals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure for extended periods.
  • Available to work weekends and after normal work hours.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities; ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing.
  • Ability to present, inform and motivate individuals and groups to take action on our scope of work.
  • Understands the significance of, and at times, confidential nature of our work.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $28,000 - $35,000, depending on experience and knowledge. Benefits include paid holidays and 80 hours of
paid, personal time off; monthly expense stipend and reimbursement for pre-authorized expenses; increased salary,
leadership and job promotion opportunity at Arizona Advocacy Network.
