 Planned Parenthood's Youth Organizing Team seeks a National Campus Organizer.  Reporting to the Manager of the Youth Organizing Team, this National Campus Organizer will build and develop new student chapters and support the existing network of over 200 student chapters in colleges and universities across the country.

 The National Campus Organizer is part of a broader Planned Parenthood effort to build and uplift student organizing work with existing coalition partners in an effort to build progressive political relationships.  This position helps to lay the ground work in the field for establishing Planned Parenthood as an organization committed to creating vibrant leadership in the areas of youth engagement and youth organizing - with an emphasis on engaging youth of color.


 Duties and responsibilities include:  

  • Support existing affiliates and campus groups, as well as outreach to affiliates, colleges and universities to build new student organizing chapters.
  • Provide technical assistance and on the ground support to student chapters and affiliates, including planning and executing both national and regional issue and skill-based conferences in organizing and advocacy skills as well as leadership development.
  • Use Planned Parenthood's social media to reach potential student leaders, broadcast a unified message about student organizing and advocacy, as well as to showcase the work done by new and established student chapters.
  • Create opportunities for Planned Parenthood's Young Leaders Advisory Council to get involved with organizing and supporting student chapters.
  • Work with existing peer education networks to establish relationships and encourage peer educators to get involved in national education efforts and advocacy campaigns.
  • Manage processes that maintain and support the Youth Organizing program.
  • Support annual national youth organizing conferences including:  the Young Leaders Summit, Youth Organizing & Policy Conference, and Youth Organizing & Policy Institutes.

 Qualifications needed for consideration include:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience with student organizing, including diverse communities.
  • Have working knowledge of the key reproductive health, rights and justice issues and campus organizing strategies.
  • Solid computer literacy.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Solid organizational and administrative skills, with strong attention to details.
  • Commitment to the mission of Planned Parenthood and an understanding of women's health and reproductive rights issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-resolution/negotiation and customer service skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently while under pressure, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be available to travel up to 50% of the time.
