Overall Responsibility

The Field Organizer will work with the Campaign Manager in implementing the campaign's 2015 Field Program by coordinating election activities to maximize Democratic turnout and improve Democratic performance.

Key areas of responsibility

  1. Be a representative for the campaign.

  2. Work with the Campaign Manager to implement the field plan for voter contact activities including, but not limited to: volunteer recruitment, voter identification, voter registration, and GOTV efforts.

  3. Build a long-term volunteer infrastructure in the district.

  4. Collaborating with volunteer leadership to successfully plan canvasses, phone banks, voter registration events, house parties, forums and other campaign events as directed.

  5. Manage, train, and motivate volunteers to achieve daily and weekly voter contact goals and plan objectives.

  6. Meeting strict weekly voter contact goals on doors and phones.

  7. Meeting daily reporting and data entry deadlines.

  8. Work with the Campaign Manager to enhance data quality for voter contact activities.

  9. Participating in regular reporting conference calls.

  10. Perform such other duties as the campaign requires.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of political campaign principles and strategies preferred, but not required

  • Previous electoral experience as staff, intern or volunteer preferred, but not required

  • Virginia political experience preferred, but not required

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Experience using VoteBuilder is preferred, but not required

  • Dedication to empowering volunteers to effect change in their community

  • Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced campaign environment

  • Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends on a regular basis

  • A true self-starter who is a detail-oriented team player

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong dedication to the values of the Democratic Party of Virginia

  • Access to reliable transportation required

Salary negotiable.  The expected start date for this position is July 15th, 2015.  Housing can be arranged for an applicant from out of the area, if required.
