Job Opening: Field Organizer
Mainers for Accountable Elections is seeking several full-time Field Organizers to join the 2015 ballot campaign. Field Organizers are the face of the campaign in their communities and are responsible for building and empowering the volunteer infrastructure that will persuade and mobilize voters to turn out a victory at the ballots in November. Field Organizers will report to Reigional Field Directors and will be based in communities across Maine.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing the state field plan in an assigned turf;
- Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to participate in activities like door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and other efforts to persuade and turn out voters;
- Planning and executing regular voter contact and volunteer recruitment events;
- Cultivating volunteer leaders within communities and providing them with ongoing training;
- Developing relationships with political stakeholders, allied organizations, and local political committees;
- Assuming responsibility for meeting voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals within a turf.
Skills and Qualification:
- Candidates must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and have a strong commitment to accountability;
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines under pressure
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills;
- Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a fast-paced environment;
- Desire to learn on the job and meet any challenge with a positive attitude;
- The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of political campaigns and campaign technology like the VAN.
- Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle required.
