POSITION AVAILABLE: Associate Digital Content Producer—Position Located in DC
REPORTS TO: Director of Digital
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Play a critical role in a fast-growing digital team working to protect our democracy. Assist with day-to-day production and maintenance of commoncause.org, including posting content, and writing original blog posts. Assist in drafting, formatting, segmenting and coding compelling messages through multiple digital channels (email, social and web) and help to manage a busy online content editorial calendar.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Generate, edit, and post written and visual content for our website Democracy Wire blog, our national and state-based email lists and our large social media following. Work with state organizations to improve their digital presence. Using Luminate Online, build landing pages for messages and campaigns, and monitor and report on online messaging performance. Assist and train state and national program staff with Luminate software. Research, recommend and implement technology ideas and solutions as needed. Generally make a lot of social change happen quickly with our digital channels.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience (on campus, as an intern or employee) working with non-profit advocacy groups, political campaigns or causes; demonstrated experience with digital outreach tools (a plus if this includes content management systems and constituent database systems); familiarity with HTML, JavaScript and CSS (developer-level coding skills are not required); strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as solid writing and editing skills; familiarity with and interest in growing skills with online tools, tactics and best practices; ability to train colleagues on specific digital skills and tasks.
Pluses: Graphic design and/or production design experience is a huge plus; in particular, experience developing and designing infographics for distribution on blogs and social channels; persuasive writing skills.
