Democracy Initiative
The Democracy Initiative is a dynamic network of activist organizations working toward a vibrant future in which all Americans participate fully and freely in the democratic process. We believe that every voter must have a voice in public policy and that every elected official must be accountable to the people and the public interest.
Launched in 2013 by leaders of the Communications Workers of America, Greenpeace, Sierra Club, and NAACP, the convening circle now includes AFSCME and Common Cause along with 56 total endorsing organizations with diverse issue focuses. Without the energy, experience, and devotion to democratic values that our endorsing organizations have demonstrated, the Democracy Initiative could not have accomplished so much in such a short period of time. Whether it has been speaking out about gridlock in Washington, rallying for voting rights in Virginia, or highlighting the impact of big money in politics, DI organizations have begun to embrace a broad democracy agenda.
We are hiring a Senior Organizer to communicate with and engage the organizations of the Democracy Initiative in the coalition's work to educate members and institute reforms. The Senior Organizer will report to the Executive Director.
