Position: Raíz Program Manager Organization: Community Outreach Group Location: Flexible Organization Overview Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. Planned Parenthood has long been committed to increasing civic engagement in the Latinx community — the nation's fastest growing demographic and one that faces many obstacles to health care access. The Community Outreach Group is a part of Planned Parenthood, but a separate organization that supports Planned Parenthood with short-term staffing and large-scale advocacy campaigns. The Community Outreach Group staffs the Raíz program for Planned Parenthood. Program Overview |
The Raíz program is Planned Parenthood's national effort to work in solidarity with the Latinx community on fights for reproductive health, sex education, and access to care. Raíz staff partner with affiliates in key cities in Arizona, Nevada, and Texas to build volunteer capacity and power within Planned Parenthood's Latinx supporters, while engaging in campaign of strategic importance to affiliates in those cities. In the first two years of the Raíz program, organizers have worked on enrolling consumers in the Affordable Care Act, registering voters, expanding Medicaid, passing comprehensive sex education, protecting access to care, and working in coalition with partners around other issues that impact Latinxs. The Raíz organizing model is centered in the lived experiences of Planned Parenthood patients, produces culturally-relevant programming, partners with Planned Parenthood education programs, aligns affiliate and national-office priorities, builds leadership among Latinx supporters, and supports allied organizations in intersectional campaigns. |
