[jobsthatareLEFT] Analyst Fellowship - Clarity Campaign Labs - Washington, D.C.

Analyst Fellowships (paid)

We launched Clarity Campaign Labs (claritycampaigns.com) in early 2012 to provide fully integrated analytic solutions to Democratic campaigns, progressive non-profits, and select corporate clients. Our team consists of experts across the fields of campaign strategy, political data, and analytics. Together, these skill sets allow us to meet the unique data and analytic needs of each of our clients while ensuring that the resulting tools and information integrate seamlessly into their operations and strategy.

About the positions:

We are hiring current college students and recent graduates to join the Clarity team in Washington, D.C. for the summer of 2016 (spring and fall may also be available). If have strong analysis and technical skills and are interested in working on predictive models and analytical puzzles for high profile campaigns, you're in the right place! Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, quick to pick up new skills, and dedicated to progressive candidates and causes.

In their time at Clarity, an analyst fellow will master the basics of political data, become fluent in campaign applications of micro-targeting, gain valuable campaign experience on the 2016 election cycle, and develop the technical skills to tackle a wide range of analytic problems. We're committed to paying our fellows, and compensation is based on experience. Fellowships also include the potential for full time employment upon graduation.

Job functions:

• Dig through individual-level datasets for useful insights and ideas

• Draft and field large-N polls and surveys with Clarity's in-house tools

• Support the nitty-gritty of Clarity's microtargeting and predictive modeling workflow

• Use mapping and plotting tools to visualize models, election projections, and other information

• Create reports and presentations on client deliverables

• Tackle anything else the analytics team decides to toss your way

Must have:

• A strong commitment to progressive causes (otherwise...well, that would be awkward)

• Excellent research, writing, and multi-tasking abilities

• Experience with the application of math and statistics to analytical problems.

• Insatiable curiosity and hunger for new skills

• Attention to detail (it bothers you that only one of these bullet points ends with a period)

• Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student or a recent college grad

• Must be willing to spend the summer in the DC metro area (or in school locally for spring/fall)

Awesome to Have:

• Experience with advanced number crunching in R, Stata, or similar statistical software

• Programming experience, especially in Python or Perl

• Prior work with GIS software like ArcGIS and QGIS

• Familiarity with large databases and SQL

• Coursework in computer science, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and databases

• Prior campaign experience

If you're interested in joining us, send us an email at jobs@claritycampaigns.com with 'Analyst Fellowship' in the subject line. Attach a copy of your resume, two references, and a cover letter telling us why you want to work with Clarity, and anything else you want to throw in to make your case (optional but highly encouraged: comment on your quiz results).

All fellowships are based in our Washington, D.C. Office.
