Position: New York City congressional race seeks a Petitions and Field Director. The Petitions & Field Director will plan, manage, and direct the entire field infrastructure of the campaign, from petitioning to GOTV, including hiring and recruiting their own field program staff and volunteers. The Petitions & Field Director will lead the campaign's petition process, voter targeting and contact goals and will report to the Campaign Manager. Position starts in February.


Petitions & Field Director Responsibilities Include:

  • Ability to write and implement a comprehensive, data-driven field plan focusing on two phases: petitioning and GOTV
  • Recruit, train and manage a field team to execute the field plan
  • Set, meet, and exceed benchmarks for petitioning, voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement, and GOTV
  • Design and standardize best practices for data management using the campaign's voter file software (VAN)
  • Establish a strong professional culture within the field organization focused on accountability, specific goals, utilization of best practices, innovation, and sense of purpose
  • On occasion, coordinate field organizing with fundraising operations
  • Manage the field program budget and logistics in collaboration with Campaign Manager

Petitions & Field Director Qualifications:

  • At least two cycles of field experience, preferably being at least RFD or having targeting/data experience
  • Experience managing and training high performing volunteers and, preferably, staffers
  • Experience with and ability to train on Votebuilder (VAN)
  • Ability to design, maintain and improve a goal-oriented accountability structure without compromising staff autonomy or innovation
  • Strong understanding of the Neighborhood Team organizing model
  • A true self-starter who is a detail-oriented team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; successful at motivating staff to meet recruitment and voter contact goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent deadlines
  • Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment
  • Spanish proficiency preferred  

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
