Maine Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense is hiring campaign field organizers to support the efforts of the ballot initiative campaign. Field Organizers are essential members of the field team in Maine. Each Field Organizer will focus on developing volunteer teams in their office. Field Organizers train and develop volunteer leaders and form leadership teams and ensure that they reach the organization's growth and electoral goals, especially as they relate to the 2016 elections.
Field Organizers will be responsible for managing a voter contact team and data management team along with coordinating office volunteers. There will be opportunities for advancement for highly skilled and experienced staff. This is a contract position with highly competitive compensation.
Responsibilities
● Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to participate in activities like door-to-door canvassing, phone banking and other efforts that support the signature gathering phase of Maine Moms Demand Action campaign for background checks.
● Planning and executing regular voter contact and volunteer recruitment events.
● Cultivating volunteer leaders within communities and providing them with ongoing training.
Qualifications
● Candidates must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and have a strong commitment to accountability.
● Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
● Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a fast- paced environment.
● Desire to learn on the job and meet any challenge with a positive attitude.
● The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of political campaigns and campaign technology such as NGP-VAN, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs.
● Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.
● Passion for the organization's mission.
● One cycle of campaign experience preferred, but not required.
