House Majority Project Executive Director
The Colorado House Majority Project (HMP) is the campaign committee for the Colorado State House Democratic caucus. HMP works towards securing and expanding a Democratic majority in the Colorado State House of Representatives. HMP is an initiative of the Colorado Democratic Party.
The Executive Director leads the House Majority Project, working with candidates, caucus leadership, campaign staff and vendors to develop and execute sophisticated campaigns in targeted races across the state.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director is in charge of overseeing all operations of the House Majority Project under the oversight of the HMP Legislative Chair and Vice Chairs. This includes:
Recruiting candidates
- Recruiting highly qualified Democratic candidates to run in districts across the state
- Helping recruited candidates launch their campaigns successfully
Advising candidates & overseeing campaigns
- Developing campaign plans in collaboration with candidates, campaign staff, and vendors
- Recruiting, hiring, and training campaign managers for candidates, and managing staff accountability systems
- Managing finance and field staff as well as individual campaign managers
- Supporting candidates to meet their campaign plan objectives
- Working with caucus vendors to develop and implement effective communications and field programs in races across the state
- Using cutting-edge techniques and data to inform campaign targeting and messaging strategies
- Managing voter file data
- Working with Democratic party staff and candidates to ensure legal and campaign finance compliance for HMP and candidates
- Providing on- and off-the-record interviews with press, managing HMP social media accounts, and developing any strategic communications from HMP or candidates to the press
Managing HMP finances
- Crafting and executing a budget to maximize strategic investment in races
- Creating a finance plan and managing fundraising activities to meet the budget – organizing fundraisers, managing caucus call-time, and developing a robust email fundraising system
Serving as the representative for HMP
- Representing HMP at all meetings with allied organizations, at fundraisers, and at other events
- Interfacing with external organizations when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more campaign cycles in a campaign management position. This includes but is not limited to prior experience as a legislative caucus director or deputy director, or in a high-level position with a statewide or congressional campaign.
A successful candidate will have:
- Multiple campaign cycles of experience managing or supporting targeted campaigns
- Experience managing field and fundraising programs as well as campaign staff
- Advanced knowledge of VoteBuilder and NGP VAN
- Experience with voter targeting and interpreting various data
- Familiarity with Colorado's political environment and with state legislative campaign work
- Proven success managing multiple, complex projects, and finishing tasks on deadline
- Ability to work closely with caucus leadership, candidates, staff, and donors
Salary commensurate with experience.
