Special Events Coordinator
Rainforest Trust seeks an experienced, well-organized development professional who is a passionate conservationist to serve as the Special Events Coordinator and assist our Philanthropy team's fundraising efforts by managing special events occurring at Rainforest Trust and/or sponsored by Rainforest Trust.

Essential Functions:
Produce events focused on raising revenue, attracting new supporters, and promoting the organization's mission and brand. This includes donor cultivation events, fundraisers, international donor trips to reserve sites, holiday events, press and marketing events, departmental events, staff parties, and meetings
Coordinate all event logistics, including budget, timeline, vendor selection & management, promotion/marketing, staffing, and post-event assessment
Produce and adhere to event budgets. Compile income and expense reports for each event and reconcile with accounting department.
Collaborate with senior development staff to produce invitation lists, update donor cultivation strategies, and complete stewardship after events.
Foster relationships with individual and institutional constituents to raise funds for Rainforest Trust.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work closely with all members of Rainforest Trust teams, ensuring collaboration between the Development and Communications departments.
Help to shape overall strategies to continually increase major gifts revenue and program growth
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience coordinating special events for a non-profit organization with an excellent track record of fundraising through events outreach
Excellent writing, research, and communications skills
Experience with donor tracking and/or database software like eTapestry or Raiser's Edge
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Familiarity with Constant Contact and Event Brite a plus
Proven ability to prioritize and work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
Experience managing a high volume of documents, spreadsheets and lists
Effective interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly with staff, vendors and donors.
Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends required
Passion for Rainforest Trust's mission of international conservation
High level of comfort with direct donor interaction, including discussions of personal and family finances and asking for money
Natural problem-solver who exudes energy and initiative
Flexible team player who is able to work independently; must be very organized and able to effectively manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities
Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle required
The candidate will work in our office with 20 staff in Warrenton, Virginia, just 45 minutes west of Washington DC.
