CityScience, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn, NY, is committed to raising the quality of science education and supporting environmental stewardship. Using the natural and built environments of cities as laboratories for active learning we transform teaching to make science relevant and engaging for PreK – 8th grade students.
CityScience seeks a self-motivated individual to assist CityScience's Executive Director in fundraising, particularly in the areas of grant writing and individual giving.
Responsibilities include:
Research corporate, foundation and government funding sources
Assist in writing grant proposals, reports and acknowledgement letters
Manage and administer donor database records, development files and development calendar
Develop persuasive and dynamic fundraising materials for varied audiences, with a major focus on individuals.
Collaborate with Communications Director to ensure giving opportunities reach range of potential supporters
Skills Required:
Bachelor's Degree or higher
At least 3 years of non-profit development experience
Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to proofread accurately
Computer savvy, experience with Microsoft Office Suite and internet research required; database experience preferred
Experience with STEM education, environmental causes and/or social justice
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
This position requires 20-25 hours per week.
Local NYC applicants preferred, but out-of-state candidates with experience growing small profits and fundraising will also be considered.
Pay is commensurate with experience
