Raise Up Washington is a coalition of union, faith, business and community organizations working to pass Initiative 1433 this November to raise the statewide minimum wage to $13.50 over four years by 2020 and allow every working Washingtonian to earn paid sick and safe leave. Together, we can lift up families and boost our economy so workers and businesses have the opportunity to thrive.
Raise Up Washington is looking to hire a Communications Manager with at least 2 years of communications experience in political campaigns, advocacy organizations, journalism or public relations. Candidates must have a fluency in social media, experience executing social media or digital communications campaigns, as well as experience with traditional public relations/political communication.
Job Responsibilities
The Communications Manager, reporting to the Communications Director, will help implement the day-to-day campaign communications plan. Among other responsibilities, the manager will:

Assist in the production of communications materials such as press releases and advisories, newsletters, internal communications and other materials as necessary.

Manage Raise Up Washington's social media profiles and social media strategy; plan, coordinate and contribute to the generation of social media content.

Manage campaign communication programs including the statewide letter-to-the-editor program.

Assist the Director in responding to press requests and requests for speakers.

Help plan and execute campaign press events.

Monitor news coverage and compile coverage reports to Raise Up Washington staff and
partners.

Coordinate maintenance of Raise Up Washington's website.

Other responsibilities as necessary.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree or higher. Ideal candidates will have:

Two years of communications experience in politics, advocacy organizations, journalism
or public relations.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-
Ability to work under tight deadlines.

Fluency in social media culture and platforms.
-
Good political intuition.
-
A sense of humor and a passion for political causes.

Willingness to travel (reimbursed) and work long hours as the campaign requires.

Spanish language skills.

Experience with HTML, CSS and working with Wordpress-based websites.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs like Illustrator and Photoshop.
