A competitive Massachusetts ballot campaign is looking for an excellent campaign operative to serve as Field Director. We are fighting to make public charter schools available to families who want them so that that all students, regardless of race, income or zip code have access to an excellent school. The Field Director will implement an ambitious volunteer voter contact effort, including hiring/managing organizers, developing and monitoring campaign reporting metrics and reaching ambitious goals to ensure we get to "50 percent plus 1" on election day.
Position Summary: The Field Director will work closely with organizers, other campaign staff, and partner organizations to shepherd the overall campaign. He/she will oversee the operation on the ground to implement the campaign field plan from start to finish. Projects include staff management, volunteer management, assisting with earned media opportunities and creating and implementing an effective GOTV operation. The position will report directly to the Campaign Manager.
Qualifications: Candidates must have significant experience with grassroots/field operations, preferably in an electoral setting. Must be excellent recruiters and be able to quickly build a team that fosters a results oriented collaborative culture. Candidates must have a commitment to education reform and superior work ethic. Good quantitative analysis skills are key. Candidates should have 1-2 cycles of electoral experience or equivalent experience. This position requires travel across the state, and frequent night and weekend work, particularly after Labor Day.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan and execute field operations that exceed campaign goals.
Hire staff to run field outreach offices
Recruit, train, manage and develop staff
Track and analyze performance. Troubleshoot and problem solve. Adjust plans and strategies when necessary
Work closely with partner organizations to execute on campaign goals
Manage the day-to-day field operations with a focus on recruitment, training and staff development
Provide analysis on performance and implement plans to maximize results.
Location/Travel: The Field Director will be based in our Boston office, but will travel across the state. A car is required.
