The Community Outreach Group is a part of Planned Parenthood, but a separate organization that supports Planned Parenthood and coalition partners with short-term staffing and large-scale advocacy campaigns.  Immigrant Voters Win is partnering with Community Outreach Group to mobilize immigrant voters in Colorado in the 2016 elections. 

General Description

Community Outreach Group is seeking Deputy Canvass Coordinators to start work in Denver and Pueblo Colorado on paid field programs working to turn immigrant voters out in 2016 elections.  The program will encourage voters to vote, and engage community members in conversations around the future, Reproductive Health, and Immigration.

As a Deputy Canvass Coordinator, you will hold responsibility for the day-to-day logistics of the canvass office, including taking primary responsibility for managing staffing needs, payroll, supporting team leaders, reporting, and quality control for the Immigrant Voters Win 2016 canvass program.  

Responsibilities

This is a mid-level role. In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with field leadership to develop and implement all components of a strategic canvassing operation in a key metropolitan area
  • Recruit, train, and supervise canvass teams
  • Administrate a budget to support the payroll and operations of your office
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and supervision canvassers in each area
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures
  • Work hand in glove to support a Field Coordinator with daily campaign logistics and operations

 

Qualifications

Applicants for this position should bring the following knowledge, abilities, and attitude:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to progressive causes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including comfort meeting and talking with new people
  • Effective communicator face-to-face and in writing
  • Familiarity with advocacy or electoral campaigns
  • Flexible and self-motivated to identify priorities and complete work without being micro-managed
  • Comfortable with technology, and can learn new tools quickly
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality (in handling of HR documents)
  • Licensed driver with access to a vehicle

We especially encourage applications from people who bring some of these additional skills or experiences:

  • Deep experience living or working in Latinx or immigrant communities
  • Spanish language fluency including written and oral interpretation
  • Directly-related experience in the same type of campaign or program
  • Staff management experience
  • Has strong ties in the city in which you are applying to work
  • Brings some knowledge of or experience in reproductive health and immigration issues
  • Has worked with or built coalitions
  • Knows how to use the VAN voter database software (strongly preferred)
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience managing logistics or office operations

 

There is no formal education requirement for this position.

 

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt, entry to mid-level position with the Community Outreach Group, with an annual base salary between $36,000 – $60,000 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Full-time exempt employees are also eligible for a cell phone reimbursement up to $75/month, and employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
