Our Maryland seeks a Digital Director to launch a progressive state-level communications hub. In partnership with Our Maryland's board of directors, the Digital Director will design and implement a strategy to engage Marylanders around a progressive agenda across multiple digital platforms and to push back against right wing actions designed to undermine our state's progress.

 

The Digital Director will manage all aspects of Our Maryland's digital program including developing a multi-year plan and budget, launching and maintaining our website, growing our lists, and developing social media content including text, graphics and videos. The Digital Director will manage online fundraising programs, have the ability to hire outside vendors as necessary, and receive technical and consulting assistance as part of the national ProgressNow network.

 

The ideal candidate is creative and enterprising, with bold ideas, technically savvy, a problem-solver and a record of managing successful digital programs.

 

Responsibilities include:


  • Developing and implementing a digital strategy and budget for a new progressive state-level communications hub;
  • Developing and managing all online platforms, including website and social media accounts;
  • Creating compelling content including text, graphics and videos;
  • Running digital advocacy campaigns on state issues;
  • Managing digital fundraising programs;
  • Growing lists, organically and through digital advertising and other lead-generation efforts, such as petitions;
  • Producing digital analytics to guide future investments;
  • Serving as the organization's liaison to ProgressNow; and
  • Collaborating with allied organizations to promote a progressive agenda.

 

Required qualifications:


  • At least three years' experience running cutting edge, successful digital campaigns;
  • Experience with mainstream CRMs and CMSs such as WordPress and SalesForce;
  • Experience managing digital advertising campaigns, including Facebook ads and Google Adwords;
  • Excellent writing skills – from a full communications plan to an 140 character Tweet;
  • Experience compiling effective analytics reports;
  • Experience producing video content using TV clips, stock footage, and in-person interviews;
  • Strong relationship and project management skills, including working with diverse stakeholders;
  • Ability to manage projects independently and work as part of a team;
  • Organized, attentive to detail, and accountable for timelines and performance; and
  • An excellent sense of humor.

 

The Digital Director will report directly to the Board Chair, and the position could grow into an Executive Director position.
