2-4 years of organizing experience in student organizing, community organizing, issue campaigns or advocacy.
• Experience working on social, racial or economic justice issues and engaging communities of color.
• Background and commitment to social justice work and demonstration of strong personal commitment to NVM's mission and values.
• Fluency – written (preferred) and spoken – in Spanish.
• Must be flexible, creative and assume high accountability for all areas of responsibility.
• Experience organizing large scale voter engagement campaigns and canvassing operations, and using VAN or votebuilder a plus.
• Flexible to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekend work.
• A driver's license and access to a car are required.
Responsibilities:
• Recruit members through house visits and direct contact.
• Organize and sustain chapters.
• Mobilize members to campaign events, actions and other organizational activities
• Co-develop and Implement local, state, and national campaigns.
• Conduct political education training for members, and leaders
• Maintain a database documenting work.
• Provide support to leaders in executing tactics and facilitating meetings
• Participate in building campaign coalitions and key relationships with campaign- related allies
Admin and Other
• Coordinate with appropriate staff for communications, fundraising and other group activities.
• Participation in organizational planning processes.
• Insure adherence with VNM personnel policies
• Contribute to developing organizational theory and practice
• Entering data on Nation Builder
Individuals applying for this job should work well independently with limited direct supervision. Ties to the community are a strong plus.
Salary and Benefits:
