Working Families is looking for a creative, results-oriented Online Campaigner to bolster the capacity of our National Digital Team to mobilize our online activist base and take on more campaigns. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and a thoughtful strategist with a record of success using online tools to tell the story of a campaign and organize people into action.
The National Digital Team is a small-but-mighty team on the forefront of Working Families campaigns, which right now is focused on continuing the political revolution by expanding WFP to new cities and regions, electing the next generation of progressive leaders down-ballot, and deep membership engagement on our social, economic and racial justice issues. The Online Campaigner will have a unique opportunity to join the Digital Team in the midst of these actions and put their creativity and talents to redefining the digital landscape for Working Families.

Our work combines bold issue advocacy campaigns with electoral engagement to win groundbreaking policies and elect strong progressive champions. We are passionate about advancing policies that support dignity and justice for working class communities, communities of color, and the unemployed.
Responsibilities:
- Digital Communications & Management: serve as the lead writer/content creator for various campaigns across email and social media platforms, develop and execute tests to increase performance and report findings to the broader team, assist in managing email calendar.
- Supporter Engagement: communicate with the goal of deepening identity and involvement of supporters in campaigns, whether digitally or on-the-ground.
- Online Fundraising: Identify and maximize online fundraising opportunities to cultivate and increase online donors.
- State Communications: Assist state communication directors with local online engagement, including copy-editing, training on best practices, devising a digital strategy, and taking responsibility for state digital campaigns as need arises.
- Manage online supporter database and advocacy platform (we use Salsa/ActBlue), including occasionally technical aspects requiring basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other web standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Digital Director and team to shape the overall digital strategy and integrate throughout priorities and campaigns.
- Experiment with new digital campaign tactics or communication mediums to tell the story of a campaign and engage membership.
Requirements:
- Exceptional writing skills for a variety of channels and audiences.
- Driven to try innovative tactics and experiment with new forms of storytelling.
- At least 2 years of experience planning and executing online campaigns using a digital toolset (email, social media, other).
- Familiarity with the metrics of online organizing and comfort with analyzing data and extracting conclusions.
- Ability to plan and manage complex projects and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to a progressive vision of racial, social and economic justice issues and deep understanding of how all of these issues intersect.
- Innate skill to find the perfect GIF to describe you or your coworkers' feelings at that moment.
Preferred (but not required) skills:
- HTML, CSS, web development, WordPress theme development.
- Design programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and others.
- Photography and video production.
- Fluency in Spanish.
