Political Organizer - Maryland
Brass Tactics
Brass Tactics is seeking a political organizer to help develop the political and field groundwork for a county-wide campaign in Maryland. The position is based in Prince George's County, and the organizer is expected to travel throughout the county, laying the foundation for a political campaign.
The organizer will be responsible for engaging current supporters and growing the volunteer base, managing campaign data, advancing political schedule, and interacting with the other key functions of the campaign. As one of the first campaign hires, the political organizer will play a key role in getting many aspects of the campaign organized.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Volunteer Management: Identifying, recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers;
· Political Outreach: Representing the campaign at community events and meetings;
· Scheduling: Identifying scheduling opportunities and assist in scheduling process;
· Events: Work with hosts to organize events, and manage all the follow up.
· Data: Help create and manage the mechanisms to manage political and voter data;
· Reporting: Provide regular reports of activities and developments.
The ideal candidate for the position has the following qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully relate to voters and volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds;
· At least one cycle of campaign experience;
· Self-starter. Must be able to work independently and in team settings;
· Must be able to work irregular hours as needed
· Basic computer literacy and database skills;
· Strong writing skills necessary;
· Strong attention to detail;
· Must have a driver's license and access to a car.
The position starts immediately. The primary is June 2018 and the position runs through Election Day 2018.
