DEFEND OUR FUTURE – PROTECT OUR PROGRESS ON CLIMATE CHANGE
COLORADO REGIONAL CAMPUS DIRECTOR
Curbing climate change and shifting to clean energy are defining challenges of our time. However, professional climate deniers and environmental detractors are lining up to serve as leaders in the Trump administration are preparing to significantly alter environmental and energy policies. With dirty energy industries gaining influence —and no recognition of the overwhelming scientific evidence telling us that we need to take action on climate change - we are in danger of losing the hard-won progress on climate change over the past eight years. That's why we need you to join Defend Our Future and help protect our progress.
Defend Our Future is mobilizing to fight against this threat to our planet and attempts to roll back progress on curbing climate change. By challenging college students to take action to protect our progress and push back against climate deniers we will show elected leaders, regardless of party, that we will not stand idly by and watch so much of what we care about systematically dismantled.
The Regional Campus Director (RCD) will play a lead role doing just that. They will manage a full-time Organizer and work to develop a student-led volunteer program that motivates young people to act and protect progress on climate. As part of a non-profit organization, the RCD will lead the effort of engaging a wide and diverse range of college students and faculty. The goal is to develop them into volunteer campus climate leaders who can expand the presence of the organization through quality face-to-face conversations, classroom visits, group engagement, and move them to action. In addition, the RCD will lead efforts to build partnerships with local businesses along with planning and holding events about what is at risk and how we can fight to maintain our progress on climate change.
Defend Our Future is a project of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). EDF is one of the world's largest non-profit environmental organizations whose mission to find solutions that benefit people and the environment is guided by science and economics.
The CO Regional Campus Director position will be based in Fort Collins, CO. Regional Campus Directors will be required to travel between multiple campuses. This is a long-term position beginning March, 2017 and going through June, 2017, with a good possibility of extension through December 2017.
