Organizing for Action is seeking a full-time Training Director to design and implement training principles throughout the organization for both staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to foster coordination and cooperation among diverse – and even competing – groups. This individual should be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment and able to handle a heavy workload without dropping the ball. Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who excel in project management, relationship building, and training program design and delivery, as well as organizing and data management skills.
Successful candidates should have:
- Experience in strategic planning, program design and implementation, and budget management
- Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, managing and retaining excellent staff
- Experience managing de-centralized programs involving stakeholders whom you do not directly manage and who are junior to you, senior to you, as well as your peers
- A record of building strong working relationships, both internal and external
- Experience assessing the training needs of an audience and creating successful training programs that achieve specific goals, as well as writing training curriculum and delivering interactive, engaging training sessions
- A demonstrated ability to use data and databases to track and optimize programs
- At least five years experience in grassroots organizing and issue advocacy
- At least five years experience in volunteer management and training utilizing a neighborhood team model
- Team player attitude, strong work ethic, and an innate desire to innovate and excel
- Work collaboratively, and be comfortable interfacing with other departments.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Managing, coaching and developing Organizing department staff to ensure OFA training principles are utilized in every aspect of the department and the organization
- Setting the overall vision, mission, metric goals, and culture of the OFA Training Programs
- Working with the National Organizing Director to create, implement and manage the strategy to ensure a volunteer program that creates highly skilled volunteers and grassroots networks that will build long term power
- Ensuring all training programs and outcomes meet or exceed qualitative and quantitative goals
- Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including allied organizations, progressive training professionals, and past, present and prospective training services clients
- Directing and executing the Partner Training Program, including pursuing prospective clients, writing and pitching proposals, designing and delivering curriculum in consultation with clients, and reporting out to both clients and OFA stakeholders on client training projects
- Overseeing the Higher Education Program, which assists and coordinates OFA Alumni who use OFA's cutting edge community organizing curriculum to teach credited courses at colleges and universities across the country
- Collaborating with the Development department on fundraising proposals, budgets, reports to contributors, and written materials that summarize and highlight the successes of our training programs
- Raising the profile of OFA Training Programs both among internal staff and external stakeholders through frequent quantitative and qualitative reports, anecdotes, and photos by email and social media
- Traveling as needed to meet department and organization objections.
Compensation
Compensation commensurate with experience.
