Progress Missouri Seeks Executive Director
Progress Missouri is a multi-issue progressive advocacy organization that combines cutting edge online organizing and communications with rapid and hard-hitting earned media strategies. Our mission is to provide a strong, credible voice in advancing progressive solutions to critical community problems. But we don't do that on our own – we work as a communications team for the entire progressive community.
Our Executive Director will stay busy:
- Developing and executing cutting-edge communications campaigns and strategies
- Serving as a communications advisor to Progress Missouri allies, partners, and leaders
- Identifying and researching issues and candidates for allies, partners, and leaders
- Driving rapid response on priority issues
- Identifying, creating and responding to earned media opportunities
- Building and maintaining relationships with allies and leaders
- Raising funds to sustain and grow the organization, through both institutional and grassroots sources
- Managing the team of Progress Missouri professionals
- Travel throughout the state, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
The person we're looking for has:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience crafting short and long-term communications campaigns and strategy
- Strong instincts for identifying and capitalizing on emerging stories
- Passions for social justice, workers' rights, healthier communities and an economy that works for all
- Ability to create compelling messages around both issues and candidates
- Experience managing other professionals
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects, sudden deadlines, and curveballs
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and with discretion in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments
- Experience navigating and driving content on the interwebs
Details:
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, including health and dental insurance
Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
