POSITION SUMMARY:  

The mission of the new Mobilization Department at the Democratic National Committee is to bring ordinary people into the heart of the DNC and provide Americans with encouragement, power, and tools to mobilize in their communities. We organize in all 3,413 counties across the country, through the state parties and from the grassroots, and we seek to impact down-ballot races and build the Democratic resistance to the corrupt, dangerous Trump-Republican agenda.

 

We are a team of passionate, cross-discipline experts committed to spreading the truth, getting people more deeply involved, and mobilizing grassroots donors to support the party through creative, relentlessly optimized experiences online and offline. Come join us.

 

Our Regional Mobilization Directors are responsible for the success of mobilization programs at state parties, down-ballot campaigns, and DNC programs in a designated region. You should have a comprehensive understanding of digital organizing, fundraising best practices, and digital content, including social media. Have experience in digital or marketing at a state party? RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Innovate how to best reach and mobilize our grassroots over email and in direct mail and tell a story about the work of the Democratic National Committee that is coherent and integrated across all channels
  • Manage distributed events, text, call volunteer campaigns for your region
  • Set up and manage volunteer teams in your region
  • Produce email campaigns for the Democratic National Committee, state parties, and down-ballot campaigns.
  • Cultivates relationships with stakeholders in your region
  • Analyze regional and local political trends to build digital/marketing program that help win elections
  • Write for some of the biggest names in Democratic politics, including Chair Tom Perez and other Democratic leaders
  • Develop written guides, webinars, and other training resources on digital organizing, fundraising, social media, and DNC mobilization tools for your region
  • Manage a regional email, content, and direct mail calendar, and ensure complicated initiatives are executed correctly

 

ABOUT YOU:  

  • 4 - 6 years' experience managing mobile or telemarketing programs
  • You understand politics and political campaigns and wake up fired up to win elections
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, develop campaign plans, and meet targeted goals and objectives
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; you should have an eagle-eye for typos and errors
  • Focused on results rather than established norms for how we do digital organizing work
  • Field mobilization for a political campaigns or advocacy organization (you've knocked some doors)
  • Ability to inspire people to action using the written word
  • 1 - 3 years' experience writing professional copy
  • Committed to innovation; you should be excited to rapidly test and deploy new solutions to digital communication, mobilization, and organizing challenges
  • Passionate for engaging millions of Americans in advancing the Democratic agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning the 2017 and 2018 elections
  • Ability to adapt to and create multiple writing tones and styles
  • Comfortable working under deadline pressure
  • A willingness to work long hours as needed
  • You must be in DC or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area

 

Preferred Experience:  

  • Illustration, Print Production, Consumer Products

·         3 or more years of experience in digital organizing

·         Writing for campaigns or speechwriting for a political campaign or office, or a state party

·         SMS programs (such as Revere and Mobile Commons) and 1:1 SMS organizing text tools (Megaphone, Hustle)

·         Online organizing platforms and/or website CMS, CRM, and/or mass email systems (e.g. Blue State Digital, Convio, ActionKit)

·         HTML/CSS

·         Optimization and A/B testing
