At Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization with more than three million members/supporters throughout the US, we are seeking candidates with at least 3-5 years of leadership experience for a new position with a national focus: Associate Director, Electric Vehicles/Clean Transportation.
This person will be responsible for four main areas: 1) Serves as an organizational leader of campaign efforts to push transit agencies to switch to zero emission buses by providing strategic guidance to our local/state campaigners and ensuring justice is at the core of the work; 2) Coordinates our various capacities (Federal Policy, Organizing, Communications, Digital Strategies, Legal) and chapters on our work to defend (and report to donors on) strong federal fuel efficiency regulations; 3) Creates, manages, and tracks budgets, mini-grants, and MOUs with chapters and others on transportation projects; and 4) Creates effective systems for our transportation work to plan, track, and report on our efforts, progress, and lessons learned. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence with: grassroots campaigns, project management, systems development, using a justice lens for environmental work, working with volunteers, strategic planning as we expand the Club's transportation work, and team leadership. We're looking for someone who will excel at both the out front leadership and the behind the scenes administrative management work. Location flexible, though Oakland, CA or Washington, DC preferred.
